Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-04-18
BLNAK ("we", "our", or "the app") is an Android launcher built with privacy as a core
principle. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what information the app does and
does not handle. It applies to the BLNAK application distributed on Google Play under
the package name life.marzi.blnak and to this website.
Summary
- We do not collect, transmit, or sell personal data.
- The app contains no advertising or analytics SDKs.
- All data the app reads (installed apps, contacts if you grant access, usage counts) stays on your device.
- The app works offline and does not require an account.
Information processed locally on your device
To function as a launcher, BLNAK reads the following information from your device. None of it leaves your device.
- Installed applications. Names, icons, and package identifiers, so you can search and launch them.
- App launch counts and recency (optional), used to order search results by relevance. Stored in the app's private storage and deleted when you uninstall.
- Contacts (optional, permission-gated). Used only to make contacts searchable from the launcher. Never transmitted.
- Shortcuts and user preferences. Pinned apps, tags, themes, and settings are stored in Android's local
SharedPreferences.
Permissions we request and why
- QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES / GET_PACKAGES — to display and launch your installed apps.
- READ_CONTACTS (optional) — to search contacts from the launcher. Revocable from Android Settings.
- CALL_PHONE (optional) — to place a call directly from a contact result.
- EXPAND_STATUS_BAR — to toggle the notification shade via gesture.
- Accessibility service (optional) — only if you enable gesture locking; it performs the lock action and reads nothing.
We do not request INTERNET. The app cannot make network calls.
Data we do not collect
- No personal identifiers, email, phone number, or account.
- No device identifiers, advertising IDs, or IP addresses.
- No location data, photos, files, SMS, or call logs.
- No crash reports or diagnostic telemetry.
- No cookies or trackers in the app.
Third parties
BLNAK integrates with no third-party services, advertising networks, analytics providers, or cloud backends. Google Play itself may collect installation and crash data at the platform level; that data is governed by Google's privacy policy, not ours.
Children
BLNAK is not directed to children under 13. Because we do not collect any personal information from any user, we do not collect any from children either.
Your rights
Because no data leaves your device, there is nothing for us to export or erase on your behalf. You can remove all app data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage from Android Settings → Apps → BLNAK → Storage → Clear data. See also Account & Data Deletion.
Security
All data remains in Android's app-private sandbox. We recommend enabling device encryption and a screen lock, which Android provides at the OS level.
Changes
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be announced on the blog and in release notes. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
